Accessories like a light grey nail varnish and a little bag are lovely because they compliment many outfits. Grey nail varnish has come into fashion recently and we've tested out a couple of shades - Barry M Speedy Quick Dry in Pitstop and NailsInc in When Doves Cry. This bag was a treasure we found in TKMaxx by Osprey for £30 and we love its simplicity and quality.
Barry M Speedy Dry Nail Paint in Pitstop
Being our favourite formula of Barry M Nail Paint we find that they last for around a week whilst still looking fairly perfect. Pitstop is a light nude grey with a hint of taupe - it's a neutral tone that is pretty for everyday. If you want to find out a bit more about the formula take a read of this post.

NailsInc in When Doves Cry
This shade was created for InStyle and came free in their magazine. It's more of a blue toned grey but we were really, really impressed with it's chip resistance (as it should be considering how much it normally costs)! It's a sophisticated shade that pairs well with any cool toned accessories, we love wearing silver rings when wearing this particular polish.esme.rhiannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15314064819271693034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2496987363174514958.post-56002898612358038652015-10-31T12:00:00.000+00:002015-11-02T14:15:37.761+00:00OCTOBER | ONCE IN A FULL MOON
We had our October half-term holiday at the end of this month which was much needed! We both ended up back on the beach which was a lovely way to relax away from sixth form...
Beauty / This isn't technically a beauty product but I think it may have helped to clear up some of my acne and it's delicious too. Camomile tea is a herbal drink made from flowers - as the weather is gradually getting colder, this is lovely in the evening and makes me feel really relaxed! I researched some of the benefits and one of them was it having antibacterial properties as well as loads of others.
Music / This month I saw Swim Deep at Cambridge Junction and Circa Waves at O2 Academy Birmingham - both on the same weekend and both amazing live. Circa Waves had been planned for quite a while but Swim Deep was very spontaneous as I only found out I was going an hour before I had to leave as my friend had a spare ticket! Although they were really good, I definitely prefer their first album so I wish they played more songs from that. After that weekend, I had Circa Waves' album Young Chasers on repeat and discovered The Magic Gang who supported Swim Deep.
Film / Seeing as it’s Halloween this month, I thought I’d do a thriller type film. Shutter Island is one of the best movies in my opinion - it’s so cleverly done and I love a good plot twist. After I watched this the first time, I ended up rewatching it the day after as you miss so much it’s almost like watching a completely different movie. On Halloween, we met up with friends and watched The Conjuring which was good for a horror movie except I didn't find it very scary!
Life / October half-term holiday happened and I was so busy... I visited my cousin at Brunel University London for a few days and stayed over which was weird as it felt like I was already a student! My parents were on holiday in Charmouth in Dorset (close to where Broadchurch was filmed) and so I got the train down there for two days and enjoyed walking along the beach and coastline as well as exploring Lyme Regis. We had breakfast at The Bakery in Lyme Regis which was so yummy so if you're ever near then I'd recommend having a bite. We also went to a photographic art gallery before seeing the new James Bond film at Scott Cinemas. After that I left my parents behind and visited my brother in Coventry, browsed Fargo Village and then went home to catch up on my massive pile of work.
Beauty / I have fallen back in love with the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, they are an amazing base for layering eyeshadow over the top. They recently released a few new shades and I picked up 'Creme de Nude' which is a matte yellow toned nude - perfect for my everyday makeup. I tend to have oily eyelids and my eyeshadow creases within the hour but I have found that using a primer, the colour tattoo and then powder shadows my makeup stays in place all day! We wrote a post a few months ago on our favourite shades, take a look here.
Music / Hello by Adele has been one of my favourites this month, I am so excited for her new album to be released next month! When I first heard the song on the radio I remembered my love for her music and ever since have been listening to her previous albums all the time.
TV / The other day I found out that Scream Queens was being shown on E4 so we can now watch it in the UK. I'm only one episode in so I'm not sure if I absolutely love it yet but I'm excited to watch the new episode on Monday.
Life / During the October half-term, I went to visit some family in Carmarthenshire in Wales. Every time we go to this incredible pub - Harry Watkins - for one of the best Sunny roasts I have ever had! On one of the days we walked along the coastline - which was extremely windy - and stopped for traditional fish & chips and a Joe's Ice Cream. My favourite part of Wales are the beaches, they are so quiet and calm (even in the blustery weather).
One year of blogging and 44 posts later... We've had so much fun sharing our favourite beauty products and skincare tips, along with taking the photos, designing the blog and having a creative outlet. Surprisingly we've been able to keep to our schedule as well (most of the time)! We want to make the most of this year before hopefully heading off to university, so this week we'll be putting up a few extra posts during our blog's anniversary.
Here are five of our favourite posts from this year, back to when we first started out...
When wearing makeup everyday, you often get into a routine and find a look that you can speed through in the mornings. Currently, we have been going for rosey toned products to create a fresh faced glow that looks so pretty for your daily face of products.

FACE // One of our favourite things to do at the minute has been adding glow to our skin, it makes you look fresh and healthy. Benefits Ooh La Lift is the highlighter we have been reaching for, it has a slight pink undertone and adds subtle radiance when applied to the tops of the cheekbones, down the nose and on the cupids bow. For quite some time we weren't frequent users of blusher but it can make a big difference and give a flush to what can be a flat finish when using foundation alone. MaxFactor's Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink has just the right amount of shimmer to it and is so simple to apply across the cheeks. These two products together give a pretty radiant finish to the skin that looks youthful.

EYES // The Urban Decay Naked 3 palette has the perfect shades for that subtle neutral rose eye. Our go to eye at the moment has been a little darker than what we would usually go for, but with such a fresh face it pairs beautifully. Liar has been our favourite shade from the palette - it is a midtone pinky brown that defines your eye when blended all across the lid. Adding Burnout or Strange to the inner corner brightens everything up, and for a slightly more intense look, smudging a little bit of Liar on the lower lash line works perfectly!

LIPS // Any nude or pink based lip colour finishes an everyday makeup off. For a fuss free lip the Soap & Glory Motherpucker Gloss Crayon in Fuchsia-Ristic. It is one of those products that you can put on even without a mirror with a slight coral tone can brighten your look. Another pretty choice is the Chanel Coco Rouge Lipstick in Liason, which is a light creme pink and we talked about it in this post.

Autumn is our favourite season - we love how you can start layering and wearing burgundy and berry shades. The whole oversized trend is one we love, but we think it looks best when paired with a tighter trouser, like these treggings. This is one of our go to looks at the minute as it's so laid back and easy to chuck on.
September has been a month of readjusting to A-levels and the heavy workload that comes with them so we have been very busy at school (hence why this post is so late). Here are a few of our favourites from last month that have made being a student again a little less dull...

ESME
Beauty / With Autumn quickly approaching I have been starting to bring berry tones into my beauty routine. One of my favourite things to do as the weather gets a little colder is sit in my bed and paint my nails, at the minute I have been using the Mavala Nail Polish in New Delhi. The formula is lovely and getting through a big bottle of polish can be a little impossible so the small bottle is great - and really cute!
Music / James Bay has been one of my favourites to listen to at the minute, his voice is amazing and his album Chaos and The Calm is beautiful. It is the perfect music to listen to whilst doing homework or revision because doing work in silence is just too boring.
TV / Downton Abbey is back and Sunday nights are now so much better! I will admit that last season wasn't the best and I think it is good that this is the last series but I still do love the programme. I've been told by a few people that I look like Mary but I don't see it other than the fact that we are both brunette!
Life / Being in my A2 year at school, university is on my mind and over the past few weekends my Dad and I have been travelling across the country visiting many different campuses. I really liked Manchester university and how the buildings are the perfect mix of old and new. Another positive of Manchester is the Trafford Centre, I would say that it is the biggest shopping centre I have ever been to! I've also been to see Leeds and York which were both quite nice as well.

RHIANNON
Beauty / I have finally discovered blusher! Before, I was too scared to scuffer my efforts of making myself look less red by applying foundation to then add even more redness when it came to blusher, so I left it out of my routine. After realising that my skin definitely needed a bit of a healthy glow adding to it, I purchased the Real Techniques blusher brush to delve into the world of blusher. I have been using two blushers: the first being NARS in the shade Amour which is a fairly dark pink and is highly pigmented so you don't need much at all. The second is the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink which is a marble effect of two colours and has a touch of shimmer too. Both have lovely packaging and are the perfect finish to my daily make-up look.
Music / Foals released their latest album What Went Down at the end of August so it's been on repeat ALOT this month. Birch Tree is my favourite song on the album. I also booked tickets to go and see them next February at Birmingham Barclaycard arena with Everything Everything as support so I'm really excited for that!
Film / While browsing through Netflix, I came across The Road Within and when I saw that Robert Sheehan and Dev Patel were in it I immediately added it to my watch later list. In a nutshell, three young people, one with Tourette's Syndrome, one with extreme OCD and a girl with anorexia, go on a road trip together. It's really interesting and inspiring while reminding you of the effects of disabilities that have mental and not physical symptoms - it's also extremely funny in a sensitive way!
Life / Following my extremely cultural day trip to London at the start of this month, I discovered some new favourite places! The first was the Design Museum where I saw an exhibition called 'Life On Foot'. They are working on a new building which is opening next year and I can't wait to go and see it! I also found The Photographers' Gallery which is just off of Oxford Street down an almost hidden stairway. It was so nice to stroll around the exhibitions and I even saw Jack Harries and Ella Denton in the shop. After that, I went to see Wicked at the West End - it was very weird but I enjoyed it a lot! Every time I go to the theatre, I'm always amazed at people's talent.

Over summer, we've found a few hairstyles that we keep going back to time and time again. Our favourite way to wear them is with loose curls created with the BaByliss Curling Wand Pro, but they also look lovely with straight hair. They can be dressed up or down which is why they're perfect for every occasion.

SIMPLE CURLS // An effortless look that adds a bit of femininity to any outfit. It makes a basic jeans and tee combination a little prettier.
TWISTED PLAIT // We think this is fairly bohemian and would be a stylish hairstyle for a festival. We're a fan of plaits so combining two different types in a half up half down look is one of our favourite things to do. You could easily create a fishtail plait instead of a basic braid here.

During the summer, we spent a long weekend in Salisbury for Rhiannon's 17th Birthday. We had fun exploring the historic city, making a few purchases and eating yummy food. On one of the days we decided it would be fun to go to the seaside so we travelled down to Bournemouth. The weather was very typically British - grey skies with a few moments of sunshine - but we still had a lovely day and even braved paddling in the sea.

BEACH HUTS
We wandered along the seafront looking at all the lovely beach huts. If you are spending more time in Bournemouth we would definitely recommend renting one. They aren't too expensive and are perfect for groups to relax by the sea for a few hours or take shelter in if it starts to rain! The Cath Kidston decorated huts were so pretty - the cloud pattern was our favourite. If you walk to the left of the pier, there is a rainbow row of beach huts that are equally as cute. They're a lovely backdrop for some pictures too!
SHOPPING
It's definitely not the best place for shopping but the high street has the most popular shops like Zara, New Look, Space NK etc. We weren't really in the spending mood on our day trip but we spent a fair amount of time browsing the beauty counters of the department shops and of course Space NK. Our hands were covered in swatches and we added quite a few things to our beauty wish lists. We didn't see many boutiques which was slightly disappointing but the beach is the main attraction anyway so it didn't matter too much!
SEASIDE
Despite the pretty rubbish weather, we couldn't help ourselves from getting a traditional Mr Whippy Ice Cream to eat whilst sitting in the sand. It can be so relaxing to just sit and listen to the sound of the waves or catch up with a group of friends. The sun even came out for a few minutes so we spent a while paddling in the water like little kids. Skimming rocks has never been a skill that either of us have had but we gave it a good go until we got frustrated for failing so ended up doing a 'Who can throw the rock the furthest' competition. This nearly resulted in a child being knocked out - oops, aiming is something that we need to practice!
We had such a lovely day in Bournemouth and if you ever have the chance to walk along the seafront we would definitely encourage you to - especially if the sun is out!

YSL is such a luxury beauty brand and the quality of their products is beautiful. The Touché Éclat highlighting pen is definitely a cult product in the beauty world, it's been around since 1991 and over time the line has gone from only 2 shades to 8 shades so there is a match for everyone. They have also become famous from their mascaras and the Faux Cils formula has been on our list to try for quite some time.

TOUCHÉ ÉCLAT

As one of the most famous YSL products it has had a large hype around it and in our opinion it doesn't quite live up to it. It is beautiful - don't get us wrong - but it is more for those who don't need a lot of coverage. This offers light coverage and adds slight radiance where applied. One major positive to using this concealer is it has a beautiful finish as it doesn't cake up or look visible when blended into the skin. The issue we have with the Touché Éclat pen is that on its own it just doesn't have enough pigmentation - our favourite way to use this product is on top of another under the eyes and then down the bridge of the nose, tops of the cheeks and the Cupid's bow to add a little glow.

FAUX CILS MASCARA

This is a gorgeous mascara that gives pretty fluttery long lashes but without any clumps. The brush is a round bristley brush which works really well to fan out the lashes and separate them from each other perfectly. The formula is quite thick and so it doesn't easily transfer onto the skin - if you like more wet formulas we wouldn't recommend trying this. However if you do have oily skin and your mascara tends to smudge under your eyes or on your brow bone towards the end of the day, then this product may not be perfect in the regular formula - perhaps try the waterproof version.

We managed to pick these up at an amazing price in a set also with a YSL skincare item during the Boxing Day sales. If you are wanting to try out a few products from a brand, we definitely recommend waiting until the sales to get a great deal!

After our first festival experience last year at Reading, we knew it was going to be hard to go a year without going to another one. The two festivals we're reviewing are extremely different with Somersault being a family friendly event with other activities besides music on offer, and Reading being a young rock/alternative music focused festival.
SOMERSAULT FESTIVAL, DEVON 23rd-27th

Headliner: Bombay Bicycle Club and Passenger, Crystal Fighters, Laura Marling
Sleeping: Boutique camping in a bell tent (you can go standard camping)
Favourite: Bombay Bicycle Club was definitely the highlight - it was their last show for a long time so they bought out Rae Morris, Lucy Rose and Liz Lawrence to sing on their songs. Jeremy Loops was also amazing live as he really got the crowd going and you got to see him do everything on a loop pedal.
Other acts to check out: Amber Run, Bear's Den, The Staves, Cash+David, Tora, Jake Isaac
Highlights: Seeing so many of the acts around the festival - met Bear's Den and Rae Morris (and her mum), the photography masterclasses were really interesting by @nathangallagher on Instagram and I had a lot of fun holding in laughter at the yoga session I went to.
Food: Expensive niche food stalls offering pizza, paella, Mexican etc. Expect lots of stalls to be inside a campervan!
Atmosphere: Easy going, friendly, suitable for all ages.
Other activities: Forest party, campfire meals, comedy, yoga, fitness classes, theatre and so on usually for an extra charge.
Typical fashion: Think flower crowns mixed with rain coats!
Price of ticket: £99.50-£135 (only £5 for under 10's and £75 for 11-17's)
Our best advice: Dress for the weather. Bring clothes that you won't mind getting dirty and a couple of layers - also wellies are a must if it's forecast to rain as it got VERY muddy.
READING FESTIVAL FRIDAY 28th
Headliner: Mumford & Sons
Sleeping: Last year we slept in tents, but this year we just went up for a day. We recommend sleeping in White Camp - it may be the furthest away from the arena but it's also the furthest away from the majority of drunks!
Favourite: Mumford & Sons were incredible, they really got the crowd going and Marcus Mumford even crowd surfed! They played songs off of their new album and then some of their more well-known older songs that everyone sang along to. Bear's Den were also amazing, the tent was completely packed and as they left the stage the crowd chanted for an encore.
Other acts to check out: Hunter and The Bear, Jake Isaac, Bastille, Alt-J, Don Broco
Food: Fast food pasta, pizza, fish & chips, ice-cream, toasties... everything you can think of!
Atmosphere: Rowdy, exhilarating and very busy with a much younger audience.
Other activities: There are a few comedians, fair rides and a silent disco if you have a weekend pass.
Price of ticket: £65 for a day, £210 for the whole weekend
Our best advice: Avoid the dance tent (if you don't like illegal activities behind your back), take hand sanitiser and don't eat the Chinese food. Also, if you despise having greasy hair, take a bucket and some shampoo minis and get your friend to wash your hair one morning.
August has been a bit crazy as it's the summer holidays so here's a small run down...

RHIANNON
Beauty / During the holidays, I tend to travel a bit to visit family and maybe even go abroad. Bringing along a MAC duo palette is perfect for a simple but pretty eye look without having to bring a massive selection of eyeshadows with you. The shades I have in mine are Nylon and Woodwinked which look really lovely together. When England actually gets sun, it makes my face look even more shiny and oily than it already does and my make-up can sometimes slip all over the place. To keep my eyeshadow in tact and avoid getting lines in the crease, I've been religiously using the Benefit Stay Don't Stray eye primer too (in the shade Light/Medium).
Music / Festivals are a great way to not only enjoy your favourite music live but to also discover new music. Having been to two festivals this summer, I found some new bands that I'd never heard of before. The first one is Cash+David - they've only been going for about a year but the lead singer Liz Lawrence is also the singer for Bombay Bicycle Club at the moment - the song Bones is my favourite. Tora are a group from Australia signed to Communion Records, along with Amber Run who I absolutely love (listen to their album 5AM)!
Film / As Begin Again is one of my all time favourite movies, we spent the evening of my birthday watching it. The concept is really good as Greta played by Keira Knightly records an album outside in various locations in New York. The soundtrack is brilliant and it's such a feel good film - the casting is very well done too and you've got to love James Corden! The only downside is that it takes a while to get going so you might find the start slightly dull.
Life / I turned 17 this month so I'm now officially allowed on the road! Esme and I went to Salisbury for nearly a week to celebrate with my family and took a day trip to Bournemouth while we were there. We wandered round the shops (spent a while in Space NK...), went to Wagamama's, had ice-cream and attempted to skim stones by the beach. We also loved browsing round Fisherton Mill which is located near the main shopping area of Salisbury. It sells lots of art work while having the studios upstairs so you can see the artists creating their products - there's also a café at the side of the shop.

ESME
Beauty / I have been loving my Bourjois Happy Light Foundation - which is more of a tinted moisturiser in my opinion! Following my week away in gorgeous Mykonos, I managed to get a bit of a tan and the sun cleared up my skin so I haven't been reaching for a heavy coverage base but rather for something that lets my skin show whilst still just evening everything out. This foundation is perfect for when you have a bit of a glow and it works beautifully in the summer as it has a radiant finish. Although, with it being slightly warmer and having an oily skin type I have been using a bit of powder so I don't look so shiny!
Music / Mumford & Sons have been a favourite of mine for so long and I finally got to see them perform live yesterday at Reading. They were absolutely amazing and the crowd was incredible as well. They announced that they are going on tour in December which is so exciting, hopefully I'll manage to get tickets.
Film / Whilst on holiday I read the book Paper Towns, I'm not a big reader but I finished the entire book in 2 days. Last week I went to see the film and although it was fairly different to the plot of the book, I still enjoyed it! Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne played the two main roles and worked perfectly together. I would definitely recommend going to see it if you can - there are moments where the whole cinema was laughing!
Life / As Rhiannon said, we went to Bournemouth for the day during this month and it was so lovely to be by the seaside. Despite living in England my whole life, I haven't really been to the seaside and I had never seen beach huts before. Also, we both went to Reading Festival on August 28th, it was such a fun day and the weather was perfect. It was so good to see so many of our favourite bands in one day and the atmosphere of the festival makes everything so much better. My two favourites were Mumford & Sons - who headlined - and Bear's Den!

After a long summer, we know it can be hard to reorganise everything again. For sixth form we have so many folders, bits of paper and textbooks that it can all get a bit cluttered, causing added stress when you can't find that piece of homework that's due next lesson! Picking a bag is a great place to start - if you wear uniform it's a good way to show your personal style. Don't choose a bag that's too small or it will fall apart within a term. This is what we like to carry in our everyday school bags...

STATIONARY

Obviously stationary is the most important thing to put in your bag and everyone needs the basics: pens, pencils, notebook, planner etc. But we like to carry a few extras that help us stay organised with our work load. We love to have flash cards with us, they are so handy for last minute revision before a test. Post-it notes are great for quick little ideas or extra information to stick inside a textbook or in your planner. Black ink can be so boring for everything - add some colour to your notes with fine liner pens or highlighters to identify the most important information.

BEAUTY

In our bags we always carry a little bag with a few beauty bits inside just in case of an emergency. We don't bring a full face of makeup or anything like that but it is nice to know that you have concealer just in case a spot decides to pop up during the day! Powder is handy if you tend to get shiny and having a travel sized brush is great to pop in your bag for applying it.
We also like to chuck in a few other bits in the bag including: hand cream, a compact mirror, lip balm, hairbands, sanitary products and occasionally a lipstick.

OTHER

There are some extras that we like to take to school to help us get through the long day! Always bring headphones as they are great for free periods or silent revision in class - you don't want to be the only one who can't listen to music. If your school lets you then bringing your iPad or laptop into school is brilliant for when you want to make notes or possibly have a presentation to prepare. We get quite peckish in school so take some snacks and a water bottle - it also means you will be able to concentrate more on your work rather than a rumbling stomach! Towards the end of the year after our exams had finished, we started bringing playing cards in for our free periods as we had no work to do. It was really fun to play with a large group of friends - we would definitely recommend taking some to fill the time.

What originally drew us to these Marc Jacobs perfumes was the cute packaging. We love the flower detailing and the simplistic clear bottle. Both are very fresh, florally scents which makes them more suited as a spring/summer fragrance.

Daisy - The top notes are blood grapefruit, wild strawberry and violet leaf with the heart notes being gardenia, jasmine, violet and the base notes musk, vanilla and white wood.

Daisy Dream - The top notes are blackberry, grapefruit and pear, the heart notes are wisteria jasmine and lychee with the base notes being fairly similar as the original Daisy with white wood, musk and coconut.

The Daisy perfume has a stronger scent which is longer lasting and more musky. On the other hand, with Daisy Dream, it is softer and less overpowering with a fresh finish. If you want the perfume to linger all day, you will probably need to reapply and you can purchase mini travel bottles of the Daisy collection if you don't want to carry around the whole bottle.
The best places to spritz perfume for it to last all day is the inside of your wrists, back of the ears, hair and clothes.esme.rhiannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15314064819271693034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2496987363174514958.post-28163396473209388832015-08-09T12:00:00.001+01:002015-08-09T12:00:02.555+01:00CLINIQUE CHUBBY STICKS: THE PINKS
Clinique were one of the first cosmetic companies to bring out a lipstick in the crayon form - they now have two lines of their cult favourite Chubby Stick: the original formula and the intense formula. Although they have a wide colour variety, we have been loving the pink shades which range from soft pink to a dark berry.

WOPPIN' WATERMELON
This a gorgeous light pink that creates a perfect healthy natural shine on the lips and can easily be paired with glowy makeup. It is one of those products which is great to just throw in your handbag for a quick wash of colour or a simple touchup throughout the day. We love to use this during the spring and summertime as it creates a simple, fresh and pretty overall makeup look.

PUDGY PEONY
The original formula of this product gives a glossy tint to the lips that requires no maintenance throughout the day. Pudgy Peony is slightly darker than Plushest Punch, but rather than being intensely pigmented, it only gives a wash of colour almost like a tinted lip balm. This shade is amazing during the autumn/winter months as it has a slightly more berry tone, but obviously you can use it whenever and it works well with almost any makeup look.

PLUSHEST PUNCH
If you are a fan of the bold pink lip then this is an elegant option - it isn't overly barbie pink but has more berry tones creating a classy look. It is one of the intense crayons and so has amazing pigmentation in one application. You can apply lightly during the day time by blending it onto the lips with your finger and then to make it more evening appropriate, use it straight from the bullet.

GRANDEST GRAPE
This is the darkest and boldest shade of the bunch - it is the most red/purple undertoned. Also as part of the intense collection, this berry shade has beautiful colour pay off and is ideal for the autumn when you have paler skin and can get away with slightly heavier makeup during the day. If you aren't one to wear a bold lip everyday, then maybe give this a try during the evening paired with a subtle shimmery eye and fluttery eyelashes.
Both of the formulas are smooth to apply while being extremely hydrating but they still have staying power.
In an attempt to blog more than once a week, we thought we'd try and do a 'Recently Purchased' or a 'Wish List' post once every month, usually on the second Friday. This time, we didn't have any new beauty buys so here are a few of our fashion finds that we bought for the summer.
Small Brown Leather Bag | The Leather Store Mykonos €40
This bag is a good size for everyday essentials like your phone, purse and keys. We also currently love tan accessories, especially in the warmer weather. The material is soft genuine leather which will last a long time and was great value for the high quality.

Ralph by Ralph Lauren Sunglasses £75
Sunglasses are an item that you can splash out on as they will last a long time. Generally speaking as they are more expensive they have greater protection for your eyes. These sunglasses have a unique gradient effect which makes them look feminine on the face.
Light Blue Denim Shorts | Waredenim by Warehouse £26
These simple light wash shorts have a thin turn up at the bottom and go with everything in summer! Denim shorts are a classic and a staple for the holidays so it's nice to find the ideal style.

Black Denim Shorts | Hollister £29
We've found that black shorts can be a real challenge to find when you don't want to be too revealing or only have half the material there because of all the fraying... (we're not a fan of all the hot pants at the moment). As a last resort, we ended up walking into Hollister and surprisingly found the perfect pair on sale. These ones are high waisted but cover enough and again have a small turn-up with slight frayed edges.esme.rhiannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15314064819271693034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2496987363174514958.post-65567548369550736922015-08-02T12:00:00.001+01:002015-08-04T14:01:04.284+01:00JULY | ONCE IN A FULL MOON
We thought we'd start up a new series called Once In A Full Moon (because we'll be posting monthly) as a way of letting you know some of our favourite things each month. The Music section will be an album we've been loving or just a few songs, the Beauty section a product or look that has stood out for us in the past weeks, a TV programme or Film we've enjoyed and Life could be absolutely anything!
Beauty / I have been loving the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer this month, I have always had pretty dark undereye's and this product is so beautiful to brighten your face up without looking too cakey - definitley worth the purchase.
Music / After my dad watched 'Austin to Boston' on Netflix - it is definitely on my list to watch - he downloaded the album Islands by Bear's Den and ever since I have been listening to it none stop. They are at Reading Festival this year and I am so excited to see them live, I think they will be amazing. I may be slightly jealous that Rhiannon met them at Somersault Festival!
TV / Pretty Little Liars Season 6 is airing right now with the big A reveal! Unlike with other series where by season 6 everything is being dragged out with no excitement left, PLL has continued to introduce new drama every episode. It is definitley on my list of favourite TV series and I'm hoping that there will be a 7th season next year.
Life / My family are big planners, we definitely aren't the most spontaneous people but for this summer we didn't have anything booked until about two weeks ago. I have always loved the look of the Greek islands with whitewashed buildings and pops of colour amongst the hillsides of white. One evening we just thought "why not" and booked a gorgeous hotel in Mykonos for the week. It is absolutely stunning and for the past few days on the island it has been so relaxing: watching the sunrise, laying by the pool and exploring the streets of little Venice. The weather is beautiful, hot but not too hot and clear blue skies everyday - I'm even starting to get a bit tanned woo! I wish I could spend my whole summer here but sadly I return to rainy England later this week.
Beauty / Due to a fair few late nights, my skin has been all over the place so I've enjoyed using The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask to calm my blemishes, refresh my face and scare some people when they see me with strikingly green skin!
Music / I've been loving Nick Mulvey at the moment with his debut album First Mind. I saw him live at Somerset House this month which was incredible - he's such a talented musician vocally and on the guitar. I also recommend going to SH's Summer Series next year as the concert is outside in the middle of the house which makes for a beautiful venue.
Film / Whiplash really took me by surprise with its originality, filming style and boldness. The film is about how far you should push someone to get the best out of them and whether it's worth it in the end or if it just creates anxiety and discourages the musician. There's a 10 minute drum solo at the end which sounds like a long time but it's so interesting and keeps you on edge the whole way through. I also have a thing for Miles Teller so...
Life / I've had a couple of day trips to London this month and it's been lovely exploring more of the city. One day I met up with family in Greenwich which is a place I'd never been to before, but I loved all the massive areas of grass to lounge upon in the sun. The other time was a 'let's see how many places in London we can explore' kind of day where we made full use of the Underground. I visited Covent Gardens (try some Morelli's ice cream!), The Strand, Chinatown, Brixton Markets (visit Pop Brixton if you're ever there), Leicester Square for eating and The Natural History Museum quickly before it shut to see the dinosaurs - I know it may sound like a childish thing to see but it was genuinely really interesting! We also hired boris bikes and cycled around Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park in the sun. (I apologise for the crappy quality photos - my phone probably has the worst camera possible on a smartphone!)
Combination skin is something that both of us deal with: an oily spotty t-zone and dry cheeks. It can be a real struggle to find products that not only combat acne and mattify our shine but also moisturise the dry skin on our cheeks. There are very few products that we have found to work so we thought we would share our tips as well as favourites for dealing with combination skin...

WASHING YOUR FACE

If you are using face wipes stop, honestly just stop - they are the devil of skincare! Well that's a bit dramatic but they definitley are not good for your skin and can often be the cause of many problems. Due to the alcohol in the solution on the face wipe, although it may feel as though your skin is fresh and soft, in reality the face wipe only removes the top layer of makeup and tends to dry your skin out. Face wipes are great for festivals or when you come in after a late night but not for everyday use. We used to use face wipes but switched to using cream cleansers or micellar water with cotton pads to remove our makeup. Our skin has definitley benefitted from it and feels much cleaner after cleansing now. Our favourite cleanser is the Garnier Micellar Water as it works for taking make-up off your eyes and face.
So after you have cleansed, the next step is to wash with a facial soap and water. By doing this, you are removing any excess cleanser from your face as well as any traces of dirt that may be left behind. Having combination skin can make finding a suitable facial wash difficult as many can be overly drying or moisturising. However, we have been using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash for the past few years and would highly recommend it - it smells really nice as well! Just because you have oily skin and you want to get rid of the oil, washing your face twice is not great for your skin as it strips your skin of all oils and can lead to further oil being produced in order to restore the moisture.

MOISTURISING AND TONING
Moisturising can be one of the trickier aspects of dealing with combination skin; balancing the need for shine control and moisture. No matter what product we are using we try to go for oil-free formulas which can still offer hydration but without adding shine across the t-zone. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturiser is an item that we have been using for a while, it is great if you want something that will lightly moisturise but not look greasy - however if you have more dryness then this isn't the best. An idea if you have both very dry and very oily skin is to use two different moisturisers - one which mattifies and another which hydrates. Garnier Pure Active Matte Control is a new product that we have been trying out and although it doesn't quite keep shine away for the 8 hours that it claims to, it definitley does leave you with a matte but still healthy finish. This product is excellent for the t-zone area but it doesn't give enough moisture for our dry areas and so a slightly heavier product can be used across the cheeks.
Toning is a key aspect of skincare as it balances the pH of your skin after you have washed and cleansed your face. Also, toners can be a great step for adding an extra treatment to your skin, especially good for working to prevent and reduce acne. Lush offer a great range of natural toners, each one aimed at a different skin issue. If you have more extreme acne then the Lush Tea Tree Toner is an amazing option, as the name suggests it contains tea tree - a well known acne treatment. Lush Breath of Fresh Air is an alternative for someone who struggles with some acne but more with a lack of moisture, it contains aloe vera gel which is another spot fighting ingredient.
TREATMENT
Face masks are great for combination skin, you can apply different products to different areas in order to tackle each problem. The Body Shop Tea Tree Mask is aimed at acne, it has a slightly cooling sensation when applied and you end up looking like Shrek! The Sanctuary Spa 5-Minute Thermal Detox Mask is brilliant for excess shine although try to avoid any dry areas when using this one as it can make things worse, but it does work really well for removing dirt and oil from the skin.
We have recently started using products from La Roche Posay - a french pharmacy skincare brand that has a range of products aimed at sensitive skin. They have a handful of skincare products specifically aimed at oily-blemish prone skin and although we have combination skin we have found that they work really well and do not cause any dryness. If you would like to hear a bit more about what we think of these products as well as how we use them, take a look at this post here.

The key to dealing with combination skin and skincare in general is to not over complicate things. Once you have an everyday routine, try to stick to it for a few weeks and if you want to change or add in extra products then do so gradually, don't just suddenly completely flip your routine upside down.

When you go on holiday, it is always nice to go slightly lighter and more natural with your makeup - especially if you are going on long day trips in the sun. We always like to use long-lasting products so that you don't have to carry around makeup for touch-ups throughout the day and so that it doesn't just melt off your face in the heat! Often you take quite a few photos whilst away and using products with slight golden shimmer can enhance your tan. Here are a few of our favourite things *cue Sound of Music*

FACE

It is always good to take a basic face of makeup on holiday including foundation/tinted moisturiser, concealer and a lightweight powder. Highlighter and bronzer are also great products for when you have a tan as they can add extra glow to the skin.

For those of you who like a slightly heavier coverage - if it makes you feel more confident - the Rimmel 24hr Lasting Perfection Foundation is perfect. It has SPF 20 which adds extra protection but we would suggest also using another suncream underneath. Also this is seriously long lasting, as the name suggests, and will stay on your face almost perfectly even when you go underwater (which Rhiannon happened to find out when capsizing a boat a couple of times...), making it amazing for beach or pool holidays.

Another option is a light foundation or tinted moisturiser if you want to just even out your skin tone, it gives your skin a bit of a breather and your face has a chance to tan! The Bourjois Happy Light Foundation is pretty much a tinted moisturiser and as the shade range is slightly on the darker/tan side it makes you look bronze even if you don't want to or can't tan naturally.

Concealer is great to just pop on over any imperfections or under eye circles to brighten your face up without using a base of any sort. This Stay Time concealer from Seventeen claims to last up to 18 hours too! Using concealer and powder alone give you a beautiful fresh finish for laying pool side or exploring.

EYES

Our biggest tip is to keep it simple on the eyes; sweep a shimmery shade over the lid and and then a few coats of mascara on your lashes. A waterproof mascara is an essential for hot climates where you are most likely going to be dipping in and out of the sea or pool to stay cool - no one wants panda eyes! Our mascara of choice is the L'Oreal False Lash Telescopic mascara which has a similar staying power to waterproof formulas but without the hassle to remove - it also gives a pretty fluttery finish to the lashes. If you want to be on the safe side or are planning on spending a lot of time under water, there is a waterproof version of this mascara available. For eyeshadow, we will either use a cream shade stick (like the No7 Shade and Define pencil) as it is super quick and easy to apply, or a neutral shimmery shadow. We like to use lighter shades in the day and then for an evening look just add a touch of a darker shadow over the lid and blend. MAC Woodwinked is the most beautiful shadow for this as it is a subtle dark golden shimmer that gives you almost a 'golden goddess' look when used all over the lids.

LIPS

We love wearing bolder brighter lips when on holiday as it always looks gorgeous with a bronze glow. The Clinique Chubby Sticks (as talked about in our post here) are ideal for holidays as the formula is balmy so it doesn't require much maintenance when you're out and about. This one in the shade Plushest Punch is an intense formula, adding a summery pop of colour to your lips and freshening up the look of your face. In the evening, you may opt to go for a more pigmented lip to make a statement. We'd also suggest using a lip balm with SPF in like this Vitamin E one from The Body Shop underneath your lipstick and during the day when you are out and about - no one wants burnt lips.

We hope you have an amazing holiday where ever you are going! Even if you aren't going away anywhere exotic these products are great for a summer makeup look.

As Benefit offer lots of cute gift sets with miniatures of their most famous products, we've been able to try a wide variety of their make-up. If you want to try out Benefit, getting one of their sets is a cheaper way of trying lots of different products without spending lots of money on something you might not like.

BAD GAL LASH
If you like real bristle mascaras then this is perfect for you, it has an oversized slightly tapered brush and gives you fairly natural but thick lashes.

'THAT GAL' BRIGHTENING PRIMER
If you have dull, dehydrated skin then this is the primer for you. With a light application to areas of the face where your makeup quickly vanishes, your skin will be healthily glowing.

POREFESSIONAL PRIMER
This is one of Benefits most popular products, it is a silicon based primer great for creating a smooth base for foundation and lasting power to your makeup.

DANDELION BLUSH
Adding a light flush of colour to the cheeks gives a healthy finish to your makeup and this is the perfect blush for anyone with a medium to pale skin tone as it is a dusty baby pink with subtle flecks of shimmer that give a beautiful highlight.

OH LA LIFT HIGHLIGHTER
High Beam is Benefit's cult highlighter and is of a more golden base, but Oh La Lift is a pearly pink liquid product that is dainty on the top of the cheekbones to give a dewy finish.

SUNBEAM
This would be amazing to take on holiday or when you have a bit of a tan just to add some luminosity to the skin and boost your healthy summer glow.

POSIE TINT
A follow on product from the famous Bene-tint, Posie Tint is a pinky coral liquid blush that gives a natural glow to the cheeks - brightening the face for a fresh look. Although it does have a beautiful finish, applying this can be slightly difficult as it's a liquid and tends to remove any foundation as you blend it out.

THEY'RE REAL
We find that with this mascara, you barely need any coats as it quickly lengthens and emboldens your lashes with only a couple of strokes.

STAY DON'T STRAY
Benefit advertise this as an eyeshadow and undereye primer, it does work well in both uses and due to the skin tone colour of the product it covers discolouration on the eyelid to create a blank canvas for eyeshadow. However, this does tend to crease under the eyes if you use a heavy concealer over the top.

LONGWEAR POWDER EYESHADOW
Call My Buff: A subtle shimmery beige as a base colour for the lid.
Thanks A Latte: A taupey brown with silver flecks.
Gilt-Y Pleasure: A true bronze gold, ideal for any eye colour and can easily be worn on its own.
Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy: A chocolate brown with glitter for the outer corner.
You can no longer buy the Goodies A Go-Go set (four eyeshadows, They're Real Mascara and Stay Don't Stray), but you can purchase all these eyeshadows separately here.
Like most other late teenagers, we have both suffered with acne and oily skin. There are hundreds of products out there targeted at reducing or stopping spots with claims of working miracles but realistically nothing will get rid of acne overnight. If you have been struggling with your skin, we highly recommend La Roche Posay products from their Effaclar range.
EFFACLAR DUO [+]
We read so many reviews (like Amy Alaska's) about this making miracles and completely clearing up people's acne. A lot of them said it worked almost immediately and it did but not drastically, only very minor changes. 6 weeks later though and my skin is so much clearer with only a few new spots appearing and the rest of my skin is bump free! I've still got some red marks left but they should fade and the added [+] in this new formula is supposed to try and tackle this. It is pretty expensive at just over £15 a tube but you only need a little amount once or twice a day. Aside from clearing up my skin, it has also made it unbelievably soft and smooth to touch which is an added bonus! If you've tried so many "anti acne" products and have given up due to the lack of results, then this is definitely one you need to give a go - our favourite acne reducing skincare product by far.

EFFACLAR A.I
This is a targeted spot treatment so all you need to do is place a pea sized amount on any annoying spots overnight - it is drying so make sure it only goes on your breakouts. What the product does is bring the spot to a head which speeds up the process of getting rid of it, and on further application, it works on drying the spot out. If spots play on your mind, using this product overnight can be really reassuring to know that in the morning it will be improved - well 90% of the time!

SEROZINC
As a toner this is an amazing additional step to use in your skincare routine for tackling excess oil and smaller spots. This definitley isn't a product that will work alone to get rid of severe acne but is excellent for those who get under the skin or surface spots. Following use for just a week, our skin looked visibly different. Unlike most other acne fighting toners it doesn't dry your skin at all, it is a light mist perfect for both morning and night use but be sure to let it completely soak into your face before applying any moisturiser.

Using these three products is our favourite blemish solution routine. When used all together they work to fight a variety of different problems: acne scarring, large spots, under-the-skin spots and excess oil. Although they are slightly more pricey than other drugstore products, they are definitley worth it and do last for a longer period of time. It is worth waiting for skincare to go on 3 for 2 offer in Boots before purchasing or looking online as often it can be cheaper.esme.rhiannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15314064819271693034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2496987363174514958.post-2159696340238407552015-06-28T12:00:00.000+01:002015-06-28T15:14:44.350+01:00OUR FAVOURITE SUMMER READS
We hate to admit it but we really aren't big readers despite our wish to be. It can be so hard to get into a book and a routine of reading a chapter a night before bed when we have distractions like Youtube and Netflix - oops! But there is one time when we will not be found without a book and that is on holiday (especially when there is no internet) where reading is perfect, there is all the time in the world to read a book cover to cover - so satisfying.

THE DIVERGENT SERIES by Veronica Roth
Both of us took this on holiday a couple of years ago and managed to finish the first two books within a week, they are so addictive! Many people compare this series to The Hunger Games, it is an action-adventure with a romance running through it. If you have seen the amazing films then this is definitely a series you should pick up for the summer, the books are much better than the film. You follow the journey of Tris as she enters the fearless faction Dauntless and faces lots of challenges.

THIRTEEN REASONS WHY by Jay Asher
This book is told in a unique way through a series of recorded tapes of Hannah Baker - a girl who has committed suicide and is revealing her 13 reasons why. It is definitely one of those books that once you start reading, you don't want to put it down. You see the emotional story of Hannah unfolding and the impact this has on her classmate Clay Jenson who is in possession of the tapes. It may seem a little morbid but the storyline itself isn't traumatising in the slightest, you get drawn in and it makes you wonder why Clay Jenson has been given the tapes.

MY SISTER'S KEEPER by Jodi Picoult
You may have watched the film of My Sister's Keeper and honestly the book is just as sad if not more so. Jodi Picoult writes the story of a teenage cancer patient Kate from the perspective of all main characters involved in her journey. It is one that will pull on your heart strings and show a realistic view of a teenager battling cancer - her diagnosis, treatment and then her first love.

GONE GIRL by Gillian Flynn
Told from two perspectives, this unique plot is unpredictable and keeps you on edge. It's hard to talk about what it's about without giving anything away, but it basically uncovers the story of Nick Dunne's missing wife through the police investigation process. A brilliant elaborate thriller about manipulation and marriage - wish we'd read this before watching the film though!

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER by Stephen Chbosky
Set in an American high school, Charlie writes letters about his life from the sidelines, always watching everyone else but too shy to join in. He meets a new group of friends and experiences some typical teenage things such as first relationships, making friends and parties which help him to fully participate in life and all it's ups and downs. A really interesting read as it's told entirely through letters written by him on his insightful observations about the world and people around him.

MAGAZINES
Elle for interesting articles mixed with fashion & beauty, Company for affordable fashion and InStyle for catwalk trends.

Our summer book list includes: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Paper Towns by John Green and Illegal Action by Stella Rimmington.esme.rhiannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15314064819271693034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2496987363174514958.post-7014244790590035582015-06-21T12:00:00.000+01:002015-08-03T18:03:08.705+01:00URBAN DECAY NAKED BASICS

Matte eyeshadows are an essential of every makeup collection (in our books) because they don't have shimmer, they are slightly more suited for the day time. We love the Urban Decay Basic palettes
which come in two tones each with six shadows ranging from light to dark. Every
shadow is beautifully pigmented and blendable making for easy application.
Whatever the special occasion, a beautiful dress and the right hair and make-up can make all the difference and have your confidence levels rising in seconds. A year ago we both had our end of secondary school prom night coming up and so we started the slightly stressful hunt of finding a prom dress…

When you first begin, it’s quite daunting as there are so many options and styles - do you want long or short? Tulle or chiffon? High neck or strapless or somewhere in between? Then it comes to the point when you’ve done a bit of looking and you’ve figured out what you like and dislike but you can’t find the ‘perfect dress’ that ticks all the boxes. We almost just wanted a Cinderella moment so that someone could wave their wand at us and we would have a dress, shoes, everything sorted! To make it a little simpler, here are our tips for shopping for a dress and preparing for the night…
To get a bit of an idea of what you like, whenever you’re out shopping it might be an idea to take a detour into a formal dress shop like Coast or even department stores such as Debenhams and House of Fraser who often have sales on. We also found it useful to create a Pinterest board of dress styles along with possible hair and make-up looks.
While searching online, we found an online shop called Sherry London who offer a range of outfits including evening, prom and cocktail dresses. Looking online can be a brilliant solution as there are so many more options and you can often get the dresses in a range of colours. Some online prom shops, including Sherry London, offer custom measurements which is a brilliant service as you don’t have to worry about waiting for it to arrive only to find that it doesn’t fit! Sherry London offer an international shipping service to a wide range of countries as well as speedy shipping - at an extra cost - if you are on a last minute hunt! They have an amazing selection of dresses in all different styles, colours and sizes so you are sure to find the perfect match - below are a few of our favourites.

Once you have the dress you can move on to finding shoes and a clutch to match as well as planning your make-up and hair. It may be a good idea to practise your make-up and hair in the week before so that you know exactly what you’re going to do on the night. We found that something like the Urban Decay Naked palettes were useful when doing our eye make-up, but other than that our make-up was fairly natural and minimalistic with a subtle hint of colour on our lips. We went down different routes in terms of our hair styles, one of us going to a hair dressers and the other doing it at home. Both worked well but it really depends on how elaborate you want your hair to look and how skilled you are yourself! We went for wavy curls and a waterfall plait, however if you have a lot of detail on the top half of your dress, then having your hair up in a perfectly tousled bun would be a lovely, sophisticated hairstyle to have.
The night before/the morning of, we painted our nails and had a mini pamper session so that all we would have to do after our hair and make-up was done would be to (carefully) put our dress on and spritz on some perfume! We met up with friends for photos beforehand and then we all got in our cars and went to the venue. If you’ve gone a little overboard on the cost of your outfit or left it too late to book a limousine, then we managed to get 12 of us into a mini van which is a very unglamorous but very affordable option… Then all you have left to do is to enjoy yourself, which let's be honest, is the most important thing.

Although we love painting our nails, it can be a bit of a chore from time to time. It sucks when you spend a good half an hour painting your nails perfectly and then go and smudge them the second you finish because they aren't quite dry! When we saw these polishes on the aisles of Boots we thought it may just be another attempt at quick dry polish but Barry M have succeeded . . .

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in Eat My Dust

With spring in full swing, pastel nails are perfect and the entire line is full of white-based pale shades in a range of colours so there is something for everyone. Eat My Dust was the first one that caught our eye as it is a beautiful powder blue.

For this formula, Barry M have introduced a wide round tipped brush that is much easier to use than the brushes in their original line. The polish applies smoothly across the nail but the only negative is that the pigmentation isn't amazing - it took 3 coats to get to an opaque colour. The thing we love about these is, despite the lack of pigmentation, you can have finished and dry nails within 10 minutes that then last for 5 days - what more could you ask for?!

The Foundation:
The shade range is surprisingly large for a drugstore foundation; they offer cool, warm and neutral undertones each with 8 shades, which means there will definitely be a match for you.
The formula is quite thin and lightweight which means a little can spread a long way. We would categorise it as a light-medium coverage that is buildable, on an everyday basis we use about 1 and a half pumps. The finish is so lovely, it leaves your skin feeling smooth and very natural - almost as though you're not wearing anything at all. It lasts well throughout the day and once powdered it doesn't look cakey or oily in the slightest - your skin will be left with a pretty natural finish.

The Powder:
After using Rimmel Stay Matte Powder for about a year, we fancied a bit of a change. Like the foundation, the True Match Powder comes in 3 undertones each with 8 shades and so it is easy to match your powder to your foundation. This product is very finely milled and so when applied it sets your foundation and removes any unwanted shine without leaving a flat finish. We would really recommend this powder for any one with combination to oily skin.esme.rhiannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15314064819271693034noreply@blogger.com0
